We went a little out of our way for this one - one town south of our hometown to Portland, CT. Of course, you never know whether it will be worth the effort or not…until you open them up. Well, this baby was well worth the ride! If you look in the photo gallery below, you can see how close this behemoth of a tree was to this circa 1900’s house. Unbeknownst to the homeowners, this tree had developed a rotten base. Lucky for them, it fell east, and not west! Lucky for us, because it was standing and rotting, this tree was already beautifully spalted.
At 50 inches in diameter, this tree was also way too heavy to move in one piece, so we slabbed it into thirds on-site. We are so thankful they called us for the cleanup as we were able to salvage yet another amazing natural beauty.
We have 6 beautiful and beefy slabs available from this log. These slabs are large enough to make a nice size desk or table -OR - better yet, pick a pair and book match them to create an amazing dining room or conference table!
